What is your area of specialty?

I teach Asian/Pacific Islander American (A/PIA) history, A/PIAs in the civil rights movement; and A/PIA community activism.


What are you proud of as a lecturer?

I am proud of my connection with community work in the APA community: I served as president of the Association of Chinese Americans, the Asian American Bar Association of Michigan, and American Citizens for Justice (ACJ), an Asian American civil rights organization that arose from the Vincent Chin civil rights case. I was also the vice chair of Michigan’s Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission.

What might others not know about you?

I like playing the game squash. Also, I served for 8 years as a school board member of Northville Public Schools.
