Senior Associate Curator of Maps & Graphics
What is your area of specialty?
Cartographic materials
What are you proud of as a lecturer?
I joined the UMich community just over a year ago and I'm proud of the processing I've accomplished in that year. Every library has a backlog of material, and I've worked with my staff and colleagues on developing priorities to begin organizing and cataloging/describing the unprocessed materials under my stewardship. I've cataloged materials of high interest to our researchers and the classes that hold sessions at the Library, ensured my staff has the time and materials needed for housing and describing large archival collections, and collaborated with our Curator of Books and Digital Projects Librarian on finalizing metadata for a forthcoming (MASSIVE!) digital collection of real photo postcards of Michigan.
What might others not know about you?
I love live music and regularly go to shows - everything from orchestras to arena concerts, marching band competitions to local garage bands, and jazz clubs to metal shows.
What is something that you are proud of outside your role as a lecturer?
I'm proud that I just finished a Master of Science in Geographic Information Science this past fall, graduating in December. With my evenings free again, I'm also proud that my partner and I are exploring Ann Arbor and the surrounding region - experiencing the local stores, cultural institutions, and food Michigan has to offer.
