7/8/22 LEO-GLAM Bargaining Recap
It’s been a busy week for your LEO-GLAM Bargaining Team! On Wednesday, July 6th we reached a tentative agreement on Professional Development. Some of our big wins include clear definitions of discretionary vs. programmatic PD, and getting memberships in professional associations covered. Every member of the bargaining unit will now be guaranteed a minimum individual allocation to use for PD annually, and will be able to apply to a shared fund for larger expenditures.
With professional development done, we turn our full attention to salary. On Thursday, July 7th the team participated in small group and sidebar conversations with administration to learn more about their position. We wanted to know if they had lingering objections to the structure of our salary proposal in addition to the dollar amounts. These conversations were productive and informative.
On Friday, the Bargaining Team spent several hours in closed session to restructure the Salary proposal to address concerns that administration shared with us. The team continues to keep equity at the forefront, but in order to reach agreement, the most recent proposal phases in the equity adjustments across all three years of the agreement in addition to providing annual percentage raises. While every pass requires us to make a good faith movement towards administration’s position, with support of the membership we can win a first contract that results in significant gains for all LACs.
The bargaining team waited until 6PM on Friday for a counter from administration, but administration needed more time. We anticipate that we will continue to add mid-week bargaining sessions in addition to our regular Fridays, so please watch Slack for updates.
We look forward to seeing you at bargaining this week!
