1/28/22 LEO-GLAM Bargaining Recap

Our January 28th session was a productive one. In addition to passing two new proposals, we reached a TA on Union-Employer Meetings (aka Special Conferences). We are continuing conversations about an MOU regarding in-person interaction to address members’ concerns for their health and safety during the pandemic.

Admin presented a proposal on Layoff and Recall which we feel gives management greater discretion to layoff employees than the current SPG covering these processes. We anticipate bringing a counter proposal to the table in the coming weeks.

For the first time we also had a “sidebar” conversation away from the bargaining table involving a subset of both bargaining teams to allow for more informal discussion. The conversation was productive, and we look forward to admin bringing counters that reflect the shared understanding achieved in the small group.

Highlights of the bargaining session:

  • We reached a TA on Union-Employer Meetings, bringing our total TA count to 8!

  • LEO-GLAM shared 2 new proposals (Release time for union activities, Workload) and a counter on the MOU Winter 2022 In-person Interaction.

  • Admin shared 2 new proposals (Conflict of Interest and Conflict of Commitment, Layoff & Recall)

For the next three weeks we will continue to focus on bringing new proposals to the table and plan to present our salary proposal on February 11. See you at bargaining next Friday.
