6/7/22 LEO-GLAM Bargaining Recap

Our June 7th session brought us a TA on Recognition, as we were finally able to come to agreement on a definition of LACs that includes the nature of our work and qualifications, and is not solely based on a tautology. The only items still on the table are Salary and Professional Development.

Salary

We were pleased to see significant movement from administration today when they used our proposed structure of equity adjustments in the first year of the contract. However, they have not put forward enough money in their counter proposal to make a meaningful change in our salaries—their current proposal moves minimum salaries up by only $2,000 to a floor of just $48,000 which is unacceptable. Likewise, their proposed annual increases of 2% in year one, 2.25% in year two and 2.5% in year three are disappointing.

Professional Development

If you’d like to see LACs get more than $700 per person for professional development funding over the next three years, we urge you to join the team at bargaining again on Friday. Your participation will give us the leverage we need to win the contract we deserve.
