5/27/22 LEO-GLAM Bargaining Recap

Happy Memorial Day! Our May 27th session featured productive conversations with administration on our salary structure and the need for greater investment in LAC compensation. We learned more about administration’s position and how we might compose an effective counter to address their concerns while achieving our equity goals.

We also exchanged a “supposal” on Recognition, and that conversation brought us closer to agreement on the composition of the bargaining unit. A “supposal” is an informal and non-binding way to present a concept or trade off to the other side of the table before developing an actual proposal that permanently locks us into a position The Recognition article is important because it defines who is represented by LEO-GLAM, and will form the basis of a shared understanding with management.

Regarding professional development, each side exchanged counters and came closer to agreement on language describing how these funds will be distributed and used. However, we are adamant that administration’s offer of just $600 per person is too low considering the actual cost of attending conferences and other professional development activities. We also continue to advocate for coverage of professional memberships/dues under this umbrella, as these are foundational to the professional growth and service work of many LACs.

Highlights of the bargaining session:

  • LEO-GLAM shared a supposal on Recognition

  • Admin and LEO-GLAM shared counters on Professional Development

We look forward to seeing you at Bargaining again next Friday!
