LEO Union Council Statement on New Campus Policies

The University of Michigan community has recently received several messages from University administrators about policies regarding protest, demonstrations, and speech on campus. The Lecturer Employees’ Organization is deeply concerned about the implications of these policies and the potential that they will be implemented in overly broad and discriminatory ways. The cumulative effect of these messages is a chilling repression of free speech, the freedom of assembly, and academic freedom. As a union committed to protecting these rights, LEO objects to any attempts to limit Constitutional, legal, and contractual rights.
